TWELFTH NIGHT

by William Shakespeare

Directed by Judith Jarosz
April 29 - May 23, 2010

"Jarosz keeps the show fast-paced and engaging. She's set the play in a world that's half Moroccan and half traditional Elizabethan, with the former adding a layer of exoticism to the latter's more customary trappings. Giles Hogya and Ernesto Mier have supplied a unit set that serves the play and Jarosz's vision of it quite soundly, and their lighting is both appropriate and beautiful. Deborah Wright Houston supplies lavish costumes that reflect both worlds as well. Jason Wynn's sound and music add a lovely light touch to the proceedings.

This is a Twelfth Night that succeeds in freshening up a very familiar play without reinventing or deconstructing it. If you know the play, I think you'll find much in the acting, design, and presentation to enliven your ideas about it. If you don't it, this is a fine and entertaining introduction to it." - Nytheatre.com

Twelfth Night is one of the Bard's most beloved Comedies! This riotous romp of love and mistaken identity is set in Elizabethan times with sumptuous costumes by Deborah Houston and Set and Lighting by Resident Lighting and Set Designer Giles Hogya. The show will be directed by our Producing Artistic Director Judith Jarosz, who helmed our recent hit productions of Iolanthe... unplugged, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Tempest. Great fun for the whole family! Appropriate for ages six years and up.

THE CRADLE WILL ROCK

Cradle Will Rock Cast

Critic's Choice!
" Surprisingly relevant in the currant political climate...David Fuller's excellent church-basement revival thrives as a spare, piano-only staging marked by Brechtian directness and raging passions." - AM New York

This 1937 fierce and riveting musical comedy about the fight of the everyman against the power of corruption has a history as exciting as the musical itself. It was originally a part of the Federal Theatre Project, and was directed by Orson Welles, and produced by John Houseman. When the original production was shut down due to what most believe was an objection to the politics of the piece, the theatre was padlocked and surrounded by armed guards. The artists found a way to perform it despite all obstacles, and what resulted was a great and moving moment in theater history. Set in "Steeltown, USA", it follows the efforts of Larry Foreman to unionize and otherwise combat wicked businessman Mr. Mister, and is filled with a cornucopia of memorable characters. Join us for a long overdue revival of this exciting piece, directed by David Fuller, whose musical productions have been nominated by the Innovative Theater Awards for "Outstanding Production of a Musical" three times in the last four years! Appropriate for ages 10 years and up.
